Founded by two lawyers from Skopje, the firm has developed from a shared vision to focus on what really matters to our clients, a service more reactive to client needs, a more approachable, global and modern way of working. The result is LBAttorneys where each day we are busy building a new boutique legal practice, sharing our enthusiasm with our clients along the way. Naturally we also share many common things with law firms around the world: the essential work that lawyers do, what is usually expected, achieving the results a lawyer must deliver and, like our competitors, we know how to do this through technical expertise, business awareness, broad and deep experience and the skills and tools to listen, analyze and to react – the core elements of quality legal services. We, however, think this is not enough.
In founding LBA our focus was centered on a new definition and understanding of the term COMMITMENT. We wanted, as individuals and as an organization, to be considered by our clients as a long-term and steady business partners and not just external legal advisers.
To manifest this approach we decided that everybody, lawyers and support staff, must be fully involved to reach a better collective result, over-and-above our respective daily task-lists. This result is only possible if our people take entire responsibility not only for their own work, but also for the entire outcome of the team’s work at our firm. In our view the only way to strive together for a better outcome and guarantee this always-on commitment is to treat people equally and consequently all lawyers in our firm are equal associates, from the founders to the most recently hired person. We stopped classifying people as junior associate, senior associate, junior partner and so on. To guarantee that our people are always highly driven, independent, focused, insightful and match our high standards of expertise, we hire only excellent legal counsel, specialized in other well-recognized law practices, better to meet client expectations on quality and results. This new definition of commitment is also enhanced by a policy of visiting personally and regularly our clients on their own premises. We endeavor to work on a weekly/monthly basis in this manner to keep communication open and try to better understand their business needs and context.
Last but not least this commitment continues by treating clients as business partners rather than sources of revenue. For this reason we openly discuss the perceived and actual value of legal fees delivered and we are flexible in our billing methods, off or on a timesheet basis. Another way to provide a better legal service is by implementing our approach of an INTERNATIONAL OUTLOOK in our firm. Simply put, country borders and jurisdictions may not really matter to many clients any more. We adapt to changing circumstances not only by working with other firms in foreign countries, but also by working abroad ourselves. We increase value to our clients by speaking and thinking in several different languages, coming from different backgrounds and countries and being members of the legal profession in different countries. The people working for our firm are from Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, France and elsewhere.
